Introduction
The dashboard for Mesh Delivery can be used to create, configure and modify properties which can be passed to your Mesh Delivery instance for advanced control. The dashboard also provides powerful analytics capabilities to monitor and understand the behaviour of your viewers when they are using Mesh Delivery.
Properties Overview
Properties are a simple way to fine-tune various parameters across all your Mesh Delivery integrations. They can be accessed under the section "Properties" in your dashboard.
You can build your own properties, according to your own specific business logic. Properties can be based, for example, on your CDNs, viewers characteristics, content types, devices, countries, events, hosting websites etc.
Properties are passed client side in the dnaConfig object. To learn how to pass the property you create on the dashboard to the client side, refer to the integration documentation for the platform of your choice.
Create a property
To create a new property, click on "Create property" and set your parameters.

Update a property
To update a property, click on the "edit" icon at the right side of the property table. Changes made to a property take up to 2 minutes to be effective.
Insights Overview
The insights section provides powerful analytics capabilities to monitor and understand the behavior of your viewers when they are using Mesh Delivery.
You can monitor a large set of QOS and Video Transfer metrics and look at these for very specific subsets of your audience: by splitting your audience along multiple dimensions, you can for instance look at the quantity of video data downloaded and uploaded via the peer-to-peer network for viewers in the United States watching VoD content on Android.
Data can be presented as key figures, tables, or time series.
All results in insights are made up of dimensions and metrics which are displayed by data representations.
Dimensions
Dimensions are attributes of your data. For example, the dimension of Country indicates the country (for example, United States or Canada) from which the data originates. Insights have the following dimensions, which can be clicked and dragged into the filter and split fields:
Dimension |
Description |
---|---|
Time |
Range of time by day, month and year. |
Content |
Streams by content ID. |
Live/VOD |
Live or Video on demand. |
Country |
Country of origin of your viewers. |
Platform |
Device/platform used by your viewers (IOS, Android, Web ...) |
ISP |
Internet service provider. |
Dimensions can be clicked and dragged into the filter and split fields.
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Filter |
Adding filters allows you to display only the data that matches your filtering criteria. |
Split |
Adding dimensions to the Split area will separate your data according to these dimensions so you can compare important subsets of your audience against each other. |
Data representations
There are a few options to choose how you want your data to be displayed: key figures, table, and time series graph. Depending on the representation you would like to use, you can change the dimension and/or add a secondary dimension to help measure the quality of your video delivery.
Key figures
Key figures display the aggregated numerical values of the metrics and therefore cannot be split. You can add as many dimensions as needed into the filter field to find values specific to your requirements.
Table
Display your data in a table format, each row represents a combination of values for the dimension you picked as splits:
For example, the below table shows one dimension (Country) and two metrics (CDN downloaded, and Mesh Delivery downloaded).
Time series
Time series show changes and trends within a certain metric. By adding a split, you can show one graph for each value of your split dimension:
Metrics
Quantitative measurements. Available metrics are defined below:
Metric |
Description |
---|---|
Mesh Delivery downloaded |
The total video traffic measured in MB or GB that is downloaded through the peer-to-peer network. |
Mesh Delivery uploaded |
The total video traffic measured in MB or GB that is uploaded through the peer-to-peer network. |
CDN downloaded |
The total video traffic measured in MB or GB that is downloaded through CDN. Only viewers with Mesh Delivery activated and using compatible devices/browsers are considered. |
Total downloaded |
The total video traffic measured in MB or GB that is downloaded through either CDN or Peers - covering all traffic. Only users with Mesh Delivery activated and using compatible devices/browsers are considered. |
Efficiency |
The ratio of your video traffic handled by Mesh Delivery. |
Average Concurrent Viewers |
Average number of active viewers connected to Mesh Delivery over the course of an interval (5 mins, 1 hour, 1 day, etc). Active viewers are users who downloaded or uploaded at least one video segment. |
Max Concurrent Viewers |
Maximum number of active viewers connected to Mesh Delivery over the course of an interval (5 mins, 1 hour, 1 day, etc). Active viewers are users who downloaded or uploaded at least one video segment. |
Rebuffering Ratio |
The average rebuffering ratio of your audience over time. |
Using Insights
Metrics and dimensions can be combined and presented in a way that works best for you to comprehend data and traffic patterns. Simply click and drag dimensions into the filter and split field to refine and separate your data.
Key Figures
Click and drag one or more dimensions into the filter field.
Tables
Click and drag one or more dimension into the split field.
Adding filters
Filters can be used in conjunction with the splits field to display data specific to your needs. In the example below, the table results separate the metrics by platform but only shows those platforms from the United States.
Adding multiple splits
Alternatively, you can add more than one dimension in the split field to break down each dimension within another dimension. For instance, the gif below shows us breaking down the country dimension further by the platform dimension, showing the metric for each platform within the country.
Reordering splits
The order of the dimensions in the split field will affect the hierarchy of the table produced. Click and drag the dimensions within the split field to reorder the data you want to see first.
Time series graphs
Click and drag only one dimension into the split field.
Adding filters
Like the tables, Filters can be used in conjunction with the splits field to display data specific to your needs. In the example below, the table results separate the metrics by platform but only shows those platforms from the United States.
