Ordering a toll-free number

To order a toll-free number:

  1. Click Orders, then click Order Status.

    Control Center shows all pending orders and those completed in the last 90 days and lists status of the orders in the Status column.

    • Parent Order ID—the main order number
    • Sales Order IDs—sub-order IDs
    • Order Type—the type of order that was submitted (e.g., New/Install, Change, etc.)
    • Service Type—the product or type of service the order is for (e.g., IQ, PL, TL, LD)
    • Status—whether the order is complete or processing
    • Due Date—the date Lumen expects to complete your order
    • Status Date—the date the status was last updated

  1. Click Add.

  1. From the Service Type list, select Toll Free (8xx).

  1. In the Toll Free Number to Mirror field, type a toll-free number on the billing account you want to add your new toll-free number to. (We'll use the number you type here to mirror the billing for your new number.)

    Control Center list the account number for the toll-free number you entered.

  1. Click Add Toll Free Data.

  1. In the Reserved Toll Free Number field, type the vanity number you reserved. (If you didn't reserve a vanity number or are requesting a random toll-free number, leave this field blank. We'll reserve a number for you when we process your order.)
  1. Select the type of termination by doing one of the following: 

    1. To choose a switched termination:

      1. From the Type of Termination field, select SWI.

      2. In the ANI field, type the ANI.

      3. From the Area of Coverage list, select the parts of the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories you want the toll-free number to work in.

    2. To choose a dedicated termination:

      1. From the Type of Termination list, select DED.

      2. From the Primary Trunk list, select your group trunk.

      3. From the Area Of Coverage list, select the parts of the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories you want the toll-free number to work in.
