Once you add a vApp to your catalog using Lumen Private Cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation, you can create a virtual server for it.
To create a virtual server:
Sign in to your Lumen Private Cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation environment.
On the top menu, click Data Centers.
The Lumen Private Cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation portal shows Virtual Data Center dashboard.
Click inside the Data Center summary box.
On the left menu, click vApps (under Compute).
Click NEW VAPP.
In the window that appears, type a name for the new vApp. (In the context of VMware Cloud Director, a vApp is simply a container for the objects you create.)
Click ADD VIRTUAL MACHINE.
In the window that appears, fill in the information for the virtual machine:
Type a name for your virtual machine (This is the "friendly" name shown inside VMware Cloud Director.
Type your computer name. (The computer name defaults to the same as the name, but you can edit it as needed.)
In the Type, select whether you want to create a new virtual machine or create one from a template. (If you select From Template, you can update the Compute details in later steps.)
Click OK.
If you want to add more virtual machines to the vApp, repeat steps 7–8. If you're done, continue with step 10.
Click CREATE.
The Lumen Private Cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation portal creates the vApp.
If you would like to update details within your vApp or VM or add a network, locate your vApp, then click DETAILS.
Configuring a network
To configure a network:
Sign in to your Lumen Private Cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation environment.
On the top menu, click Data Centers.
The Lumen Private Cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation portal shows Virtual Data Center dashboard.
Click inside the Data Center summary box.
On the left menu, click Networks (under Networking).
Click NEW.
On the left pane, click Scope.
Select the Current Organization Virtual Data Center radio button, then click NEXT.
Select the network type (Isolated or Routed), then click NEXT.
Select the edge connection (for routed networks), then click NEXT.
Type the name and gateway CIDR (classless inter-domain routing), then click NEXT.
For static IP pools, type the gateway CIDR and the static IP pools range, then click NEXT.
Type the primary DNS, secondary DNS, and the DNS suffix, then click NEXT.
Review the settings, then click FINISH.
If you would like to update the compute details on your VM, click Data Centers (on the top menu), click the Data Centers summary box, then click the name of your VM.
You can then edit general fields, hardware, guest OS customization, guest properties, monitoring, and metadata.
To navigate back to the vApps page, click Data Centers (on the top menu), click the Data Centers summary box, then click DETAILS for your vAPP.
