Creating a file template


Use Lumen® Edge Service Manager to create file templates. Using file templates, you can configure the name, location, and provisioning phase for configuration files (such as haproxy.cfg) for instances provisioned for your organization. You can create file template tasks to automatically create or modify files.

You can execute your automated task as a single task or combine it as part of an operational or provisioning workflow.

To create a file template:

  1. Click Library, click Templates, then click File Templates.

    The Edge Service Manager shows the file templates created for your organization.

  1. Click +Add.

    The Edge Service Manager shows the New File Template window.

  1. In the New File Template window, complete the following fields:
Field Description
NAME Type a unique identifier for the file template.
FILE NAME Type the filename. 
FILE PATH Type the file path.
PHASE Select the provisioning phase during which the task will execute:

  • To execute the task before the provisioning phase, select Pre Provision.

  • To execute the task during the provisioning phase, select Provision.
  • To execute the task after the provisioning phase, select Post Provision.
  • To execute the task before the deployment file is written when deployment is initiated, select Pre Deploy.
  • To execute the task after the deployment file is written when deployment is initiated, select Deploy.
TEMPLATE Type or paste the code for your template.
FILE OWNER Type the name of the directory where the file will be stored.
SETTING NAME Type the filename for the configuration file. 
SETTING CATEGORY Type the setting category to be used for your instance.
  1. Click SAVE CHANGES.

    The Edge Service Manager creates the file template. Next, you can create a file template task.
