Adding instance credentials to your user profile

Use the Edge Services portal to add instance credentials to your user profile before provisioning a bare metal server or adding a key pair. When opting to have your user created during the provisioning process, the credentials entered will be used to incorporate that user into the provisioned resource.

Operating system username and password requirements

Passwords must be at least eight characters long.
Your password must include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, a number, and a special character, except where noted below.
No email addresses as usernames.
Whenever the BAD PASSWORD prompt appears for the following conditions, you will not be able to sign in.

Depending on the operating system vendor of the instance, your username and password must have the following requirements:

Operating system vendor	Requirements
Ubuntu	No capital letters in usernames. Uses entropy checks in the file /etc/pam.d/common-password to ensure password strength and security. Learn more about Linux/Ubuntu password requirements.
CentOS	Password cannot contain any form of the username. Password may contain numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters, and symbols. Password is case-sensitive and should contain a mix of cases. Password should not be a word, abbreviation, or number associated with you, your organization, or found in a dictionary (including foreign languages). Learn more about CentOS password requirements.

To add instance credentials to your user profile:

Click your profile name, then click USER SETTINGS.

The Edge Services portal shows the user settings screen.

To add username and password credentials:
- For a Linux system, type your Username and Password in the Linux Settings section.
- For a Windows system, type your Username and Password in the Windows Settings section.
