Lumen help
Lumen provides a default network for use when provisioning a virtual machine. If you need a different network configuration, use the Edge Services portal to create a network before provisioning a virtual machine for your Lumen® Edge VM service. After you create the network, you must connect the network to a location designated router. This must correspond to where the network is created and the provisioning location or the provisioning will fail. You can edit and view details for networks already created for your organization. If you no longer need a network, you can delete it.
To create a network:
Field | Description |
GROUP | Select Lumen Edge VM group. (required) |
NETWORK SERVICE | Select the location of the network service. The location selected for the network must match the location of the vpcrouter selected when connecting the new network to the router.(required) |
NAME | Type a unique name for the network. (required) |
DISPLAY NAME | Type a unique name to better describe the network and is seen throughout the portal. |
DESCRIPTION | Type a description of the network. |
CIDR | Type any CIDR (classless inter-domain routing) block. Must follow standard CIDR format. For example, 192.168.10.1/20. (required) |
GATEWAY | Type the gateway IP address for the CIDR block. |
DNS PRIMARY | Type the IP address for a primary DNS (domain name system) server. |
DNS SECONDARY | Type the IP address for a secondary DNS server. |
RESOURCE POOL | This field defaults to nonVPC. This field describes the VPC allocation for Edge VM. Additional selections available based on Group selection after VPC functionality is made available in future releases. (required) |
DHCP ALLOCATION | Type an IP range from within the CIDR range to enable the DHCP (dynamic host server protocol) server to assign IPs from within the supplied range, as needed. |
HOST ROUTES | Type a static IP if a static route is needed. |
ACTIVE | Select this checkbox to use this network. Clear the checkbox to remove this network from available network options. |
DHCP SERVER | Select this checkbox to use a DHCP server on the network to assign IP addresses to hosts dynamically. |
ALLOW IP OVERRIDE | Select this checkbox to enable overriding IP configuration. Selecting this checkbox will give you the option to choose either DHCP or static IP entry when provisioning a virtual machine. |
NETWORK POOL | This feature is not functional for Edge VM. |
DOMAIN | This feature is not functional for Edge VM. |
Advanced Options | This feature is not functional for Edge VM. |
Guest Console SSH Tunnel | This feature is not functional for Edge VM. |
Important: To use the new private network you created, it must first be connected to the default vpcrouter that matches the location of the created network.
Note: The network is now available to select in the NETWORK list when provisioning a virtual machine.
