Creating a security group for an instance

Use the Edge Services portal to create a security group for your instance such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure. Security groups determine incoming and outgoing traffic for an instance. For example, you can create a security group for an instance to only allow secure website connections. After you create security groups, you can add, edit, and delete security group rules and add or remove them on instances. You can also view details about, edit, and delete a security group.

To create a security group for an instance:

  1. Click Infrastructure, then click Network.

    The Edge Services portal shows the networks created for your organization.

  1. Select the Security Groups tab.

    The Edge Services portal shows the security groups for your organization.

  1. Click +ADD.

    The Security Group window appears.

  1. In the Security Group window, complete the following fields:
Field Description
NAME Type a name for the security group.
DESCRIPTION Type a description for the security group.
SCOPED CLOUD Select a cloud to allow the security group to be used only for that cloud. To allow the security group to be used for all clouds, select All.
The VPC or RESOURCE GROUP fields appear based on your cloud type and selection.
VPC Select the virtual private cloud (VPC) associated with the SCOPED CLOUD for the security group. This option is only available for Amazon Web Services (AWS).
RESOURCE GROUP Select the resource group associated with the SCOPED CLOUD for the security group. This option is only available for Azure.
ACTIVE Select this option to activate the security group.
  1. Click SAVE CHANGES.

    The Edge Services portal creates the security group. Next, add rules to the security group.
