Creating an AWS cloud

Use the Edge Services portal to create an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. Before creating the AWS cloud, you must set up permissions for identity and access management (IAM) in your AWS account. When you create an AWS cloud, it creates a link to your existing AWS account, enabling you to provision an AWS instance. After you create the cloud, you can view details and perform actions such editing or deleting.

To create an AWS cloud:

Click Infrastructure, then click Clouds.

The Edge Services portal shows the clouds created for your organization.

Click + ADD.

The Edge Services portal shows the Create Cloud window.

Select Amazon, then click NEXT.

The Edge Services portal shows the CONFIGURE section.

In the Configure section, complete the following fields:

Field	Description
NAME	Type a unique name for the AWS cloud.
CODE	Type a unique identifier to be used by the API.
LOCATION	Type a description of the AWS cloud in relation to your organization.
REGION	Select the geographic region where the AWS cloud is located.
CREDENTIALS	Select access key and secret key.
ACCESS KEY	Enter the access key you received from Amazon when you created your AWS account.
SECRET KEY	Enter the secret key you received from Amazon when you created your AWS account.
USE HOST IAM CREDENTIALS	Select this option to use the host identity and access management (IAM) credentials.
ROLE ARN	Enter the Amazon Resource Name (ARN) you received when you created your AWS account.
INVENTORY	Off—Instances of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon's cloud computing platform, will not be inventoried. Basic—Select this option to synchronize the name, IP addresses, platform type, power status, and overall resource sizing for storage, CPU, and RAM. Full—Select this option to synchronize resource utilization metrics for memory, storage, and CPU utilization per virtual machine in addition to the information included in the Basic option.

In the Advanced Options section, complete the following fields:

Field	Description
IMAGE TRANSFER STORE	Type the name of the Amazon Simple Storage System (S3) container used for image transfers.
EBS ENCRYPTION	Off—Select this option to disable the encryption of elastic block store (EBS) volumes. On—Select this option to enable the encryption of EBS volumes.
COSTING KEY	Select Costing to send the standard managing cost account key.
COSTING SECRET	Type the costing secret key you received from Amazon when you created your AWS account.
LINKED ACCOUNT ID	Type the AWS account number that the IAM user resides in if the IAM user for this AWS cloud does not have access to the S3 bucket with cost and usage report (CUR) data.
DOMAIN	Select localdomain.
APPLIANCE URL	Type the alternate appliance URL used for installing the agent and reporting. This is used when the default appliance URL is not reachable for instances provisioned for this AWS cloud.
TIME ZONE	Select your time zone.
DATACENTER ID	Type the datacenter ID only if pricing differentiation is set up in your AWS account.
NETWORK MODE	Select Unmanaged.
LOCAL FIREWALL	Select On if you have set up a managed host and VM firewall or IP Table rules in your AWS account.
SECURITY SERVER	Select Off.
TRUST PROVIDER	Select Internal.
STORAGE MODE	Single Disk—Select this option to use a standard disk. LVM—Select this option to use a logical volume manager. Clustered—Select this option to use clustered storage.
BACKUP PROVIDER	Select Internal Backups.
REPLICATION PROVIDER	Select None.
GUIDANCE	Off—Select this option to disable guidance recommendations on cloud resources. Manual—Select this option to enable guidance recommendations on cloud resources.
COSTING	Off—Select this option to disable synchronizing cost data. Costing—Select this option to synchonize cost data with AWS. Costing and Reservations—Select this option to synchronize related pricing data if your organization utilizes reserved instances.
DNS INTEGRATION	Select the cloud with which to synchronize records.
SERVICE REGISTRY	Select Morpheus.
AGENT INSTALL MODE	Select Cloud Init / Unattended (when available).
API PROXY	This field is unavailable.

In the Provision Command section, complete the following fields:

Field	Description
PROXY	This field is unavailable.
NO PROXY	Type a comma-separated list of IP addresses or name servers to exclude from proxy traversal.
USER DATA (LINUX)	Type or paste the user data script.

Click NEXT.

The Edge Services portal shows the Group section.

In the Group section, complete the following fields:

Field	Description
USE EXISTING/CREATE NEW	USE EXISTING—Select this option to use an existing user group. GROUP—Select an existing user group to assign to the cloud. CREATE NEW—Select this option to create a new user group. NAME—Type a name for the new group. CODE—Type a user-defined identifier for the group. LOCATION—Type a user-defined value describing the group in relation your organization.
ADVANCED OPTIONS	Ignore this section.
