Provisioning an AKS ARM instance cluster

Use the Edge Services portal to provision an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Azure Resource Manager (ARM) instance cluster for your organization. AKS ARM instances use Docker and Kubernetes technology to create a cluster of Azure nodes for resource deployment. Before you provision the cluster, you must have a specification (spec) template and cluster layout created specifically for an AKS ARM instance. The schema written in the AKS ARM spec template automatically populates required fields when it creates the instance cluster and progresses through the cluster layout process to choose the technology plan for the instance.

Note: AKS ARM templates are available only for Azure clouds.

To provision an AKS ARM instance cluster:

Click Infrastructure, then click Clusters.

The Edge Services portal shows the clusters created for your organization.

Click +Add Cluster, then select AKS Cluster.

Edge Services portal shows the Create Cluster window.

In the GROUP field, select azure-cloud. Click, Next.

Edge Services portal shows the Name tab.

In the Name tab, complete the following fields:

Field	Description
CLOUD	Select the Azure cloud for the instance.
CLUSTER NAME	Type a unique indentifier for the instance cluster.
RESOURCE NAME	Type a unique identifer for the resource.
DESCRIPTION	Type a description for the instance cluster.
LABELS	Type one or more labels separated by commas for instance organization.

Click NEXT.

Edge Services shows the Configure tab.

From the LAYOUT field, select a cluster layout to apply it to the instance cluster you are provisioning.

Complete the variable fields that appear based on your selection for LAYOUT.

From the USER GROUP field, select the group to assign the user to in the User Config section.

In the Advanced Options section, complete the following fields:

Field	Description
DOMAIN	Select the domain for the instance.
HOSTNAME	This field is populated with the name typed into the RESOURCE NAME field on the Name tab.
