Creating a power schedule

Use the Edge Services portal to configure weekly schedules to power up and power down your instances. Create a power schedule and apply it to a virtual machine at any time and to an instance during or after provisioning. If you have a power schedule created and you want to apply it to an instance during provisioning, refer to provisioning an AWS instance and follow the steps in the Automation tab section of the article.

Note: Library tab functionality is only available for AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Azure cloud providers.

Step 1: Create a power schedule

  1. Click Library, click Automation, then click Power Scheduling.

    The Edge Services portal shows the power schedules created for your organization.

  1. Click +Add.

    The Edge Services portal shows the Create Power Schedule window.

  1. In the Create Power Schedule window, complete the following fields:
Field Description
NAME Type a unique name for the power schedule.
DESCRIPTION Type a description of the power schedule.
TIME ZONE Select the time zone for the power schedule.
TYPE

Select one of the following types:

  • Power On—Power up and power down at scheduled times
  • Power Off—Power down and power up at scheduled times.
ENABLED
  • To activate the power schedule, select this checkbox.
  • To disable power scheduling, clear this checkbox.
MONDAY - FRIDAY Click, hold, and drag the times or click the to set the start and stop time for each day.
  1. Click SAVE.

    The Edge Services portal creates the power schedule.

Step 2: Apply the power schedule to an existing virtual machine

  1. Click Infrastructure, click Clouds, then select the cloud that hosts the virtual machine you want to apply the power schedule to.

    The Edge Services portal shows the details for the cloud that you selected.

  1. Click the VMS tab on the cloud details page, then select a virtual machine to apply the power schedule to.
  1. Click EDIT. In the EDIT HOST window, click Advanced Options.

  1. Select the power schedule to apply to the virtual machine from the POWER SCHEDULE field drop-down.
  1. Click SAVE CHANGES.

    The Edge Services portal applies the power schedule to the virtual machine.
