Attaching a floating IP to a virtual machine

If you need to access a virtual machine from the internet, you need to attach a floating IP to it after you have provisioned your virtual machine. 

To attach a floating IP to a virtual machine:

  1. Click Provisioning, then click Catalog.

    The Edge Service Manager shows the available items in the provisioning catalog.

  1. On the Edge VM Attach Public IP tile, click ORDER.

  1. In the Group field, select Lumen Edge VM.
  1. In the Cloud field, select the cloud where the virtual machine is located and in the VM field, select the provisioned virtual machine assigned to the cloud.
  1. Click ORDER NOW. Don't click ADD TO ORDER. This will not attach the floating IP to the virtual machine.

    The floating IP is attached to the selected virtual machine and added to the instances list. To view the public IP instance and the floating IP that was assigned to the instance, click Provisioning, then click Instances. Click on the floating IP instance.

Note: The floating IP instance shares the same name as the provisioned VM but with a "- public IP" extension. It can take a few minutes for the address to be visible in the floating IP instance.
