Use the Edge Services portal to delete a provisioned virtual machine that is no longer needed. You can also edit, view details, and perform various actions on an existing virtual machine, such as stopping or locking your virtual machine. When you delete a virtual machine, the hourly billing stops. You are billed the pro-rated amount of the uptime of the virtual machine during the billing period.
Important: Lumen does not back up data when a virtual machine is deleted. Before deleting a virtual machine, back up any data needed for your records.
To delete a virtual machine:
- Click Provisioning, then click Instances.
The Edge Services portal shows the instances (e.g., bare metal servers, virtual machines) created for your organization.
- Click a virtual machine to view more information.
The Edge Services portal shows details for the virtual machine you selected. Details vary based on the type of instance and your permissions.
- Review the details for the instance to be sure you selected the correct virtual machine, then click DELETE.
- Click DELETE again in the window that appears to confirm you want to delete the instance.
The Edge Services portal securely erases the instance, removes it from the list, disconnects the network, removes it from the inventory, and stops billing.
