Editing a virtual machine

Use the Edge Services portal to edit details, such as name and owner, for a virtual machine created for your organization. You can view the details and perform actions on any provisioned virtual machine such as stopping or locking a virtual machine. If you no longer need a virtual machine, you can delete it from the Edge Services portal.

To edit a virtual machine:

  1. Click Provisioning, then click Instances.

    The Edge Services portal shows the instances (e.g., bare metal servers, virtual machines) created for your organization.

  1. Click a virtual machine to view more information.

    The Edge Services portal shows details for the virtual machine you selected. Details vary based on the type of instance and your permissions.

  1. Click EDIT.

    The Edge Services portal shows the Edit Instance window.
Edit Instance (VM)
  1. Edit the following fields as needed.
Field
 Description
NAME Type a unique name for the instance.
DESCRIPTION Type a unique description for the instance.
ENVIRONMENT Select an environment. The environment provides segmentation of virtual machine groups across environments.

The Environments section is where environment labels are created and managed. They are available in the environment list during instance or app provisioning.
GROUP Select Lumen Edge VM
TAGS Type a unique tag name and value to each virtual machine for tracking purposes. 
LABELS Type a label for instance task organization. This label appears in the virtual machine description on the Instances page.
  1. Click SAVE CHANGES.

    The Edge Services portal saves the edits to the virtual machine.
