Locking and unlocking a virtual machine

Use the Edge Services portal to perform various actions on virtual machines provisioned for your organization such as locking and unlocking your virtual machine. You can use the portal to view and edit the details of your provisioned instances and stop and restart your virtual machine. If you no longer need a virtual machine, you can delete it.

Locking a virtual machine

  1. Click Provisioning, then click Instances.

    The Edge Services portal shows the instances (e.g., bare metal servers, virtual machines) created for your organization.

  1. Click a virtual machine to view more information.

    The Edge Services portal shows details for the virtual machine you selected. Details vary based on the type of instance and your permissions.

  1. Click Actions, then select Lock.

The Edge Services portal locks the virtual machine. Locked virtual machines can not be deleted. 

This will remain in effect until the virtual machine is unlocked from the Action dropdown.

Unlock a virtual machine

Important: Unlocking the virtual machine removes any extra protection against deleting the virtual machine.

  1. Click Provisioning, then click Instances.
