Creating an Object Tier tenant

A tenant is a group of users to which a common set of access rules can be applied. All users under a tenant have access to the same set of object storage buckets. Configuring access controls at the object level is not supported at this time. There is no limit to the number of tenants you can create in the Lumen® Network Storage portal. Each tenant must have at least one user defined.

 

After you create a tenant and add a user to the tenant, you can use an S3 browser to create buckets for storing files.

Note: A tenant can only exist in a single region. Give your tenant a unique name (e.g., FASTBIKES-BACKUPS). Avoid common names, as a new tenant cannot be created that duplicates an existing name in a given region.

To create an Object Tier tenant:

  1. On the left menu, click Object Storage Dashboard.

    The Network Storage portal shows the Object Storage dashboard and any tenants created for your organization.

  1. Click   Create Tenant.

  1. Type a name for the tenant.

  2. Select the region for the tenant.
  1. Click  Create Tenant.

    The Network Storage portal creates the tenant (back-office actions take about five seconds), shows a success message, and lists the tenant on the Object Storage dashboard. Note the address (URL) as you will need this to configure your S3 client. You can view the address any time by viewing details for the tenant. (You can also copy the address to your clipboard.)

    After you have created the tenant, create a user for the tenant.
