You can IM/chat with contacts in your organization who also have the Business Communicator Collaboration version (designated with a presence status next to their name). To IM/chat with a contact you’ll need to add the contact to your contacts directory.
There are two ways to send an IM/chat to a contact. You can use the contact’s record from contacts or you can use Chat History (chat bubble icon) from the menu on the left.
To send an IM/chat to a contact:
Do one of the following:
From the main menu, click on the Contacts tab, double-click on the contact.
Hover over the contact, then click Chat (the chat bubble icon).
A chat window opens next to the main window.
Type your message, then press enter on your keyboard to send.
You can also do any of the following from the chat window's communication ribbon:
To call the contact using Business Communicator, click the handset icon.
To video call the contact, click the video icon.
To call the contact using your desk phone, click the phone icon.
